It’s not easy being a new parent, is it, Arnold?

@Val
I sense your children greatly loathing you if you make them return their Arnold’s gifts in the very near future…
Oh come now Val, it’s not like you would buy them such gifts, your salary prevents you from doing that. Even if you made enough money, you’d still wouldn’t buy them computer tablets because we all know you’re a cheapskate.

What on earth is wrong with the tablets? I’d be ecstatic if someone gave my kids one each :D

I haven’t real thought of Val as a cheapskate just careful with money as a necessity. Have the girls been refused anything they really need? Still a tablet – depending on the brand – can be an expensive gift (made more expensive if they buy into some apps), and Val might be leary of opening that door. Even if it is just more gimme gimme.

Ah, this was what I was afraid of. That and Alix dropping her tablet the very first day.

Or maybe the problem is giving an immature 13 year old and a ten year old girl unsupervised internet access.

I just kept an eye on what kind of porn my son was looking at (and it was pretty innocuous). He is well into adulthood now and knows better, but at the time he didn’t know about deleting temp files.

When MS came out with Millennium Edition, I thought it was the worst OS possible. Then they gifted us with Vista. I though Vista was as bad as it could get…until Windows 8!

Giving each of the girls a tablet is like giving a 16 year old a new sports car. The maintenance cost is the expensive part. This I found out with my 13 year old daughter and a smart phone. The first thing she did was to down load apps despite the fact that she was told not to.

One Christmas, my grandmother gave me three hamsters in a cage. To this day, I think she didn’t talk to my mom first.

Agreed Evie.

My friend gave her 5 year old son a tablet. She regrets it now since he is addicted to it. She can’t get him to do anything but stare at the screen.
