The latest from the front line of the war against global radical Islam: TSA agents are refusing to accept D.C. driver's licenses as valid ID at the airport. (Woman: I'm from Washington-not seattle) (Police Officer: But Washington is in Seattle) Why shouldn't Capitol-ists suffer as much as we suffix-impaired Americans? Because my legal name ends with "III" (The 3rd), my boarding pass often shows my surname as "Ralliii." The discrepancy causes TSA agents to question my ID. (Man: Your license says your last name is "iii" but your boarding pass says "Rall iii" Which one is your Al Qaeda Nom De Guerre?) Flying almost becomes fun again- when they try to pronounce it. (Man: Have a nice flight, Mr. eeeeeee!) Happens most times. Seriously.

One misunderstanding corrected quite a while ago. Rule said it had to be issued by a “state” and DC is not a state.

Having lived in Washington State, but not Seattle, I had to chortle at the statement, “But Washington is IN Seattle”….Just seems that way.

Being born in 1951, I never had a birth certificate with the state. I had some hospital issued document. Never a problem, absolutely never a problem, until a couple of years ago when the state in which I now live started requiring a BC. The fact that I had my original Social Security card didn’t cut it. I could even document over 30 years of SS income. I had to jump through hoops to get my birth state to issue a “Certificate of Live Birth”. All this due to terrorism. As I told the fellow in the state capitol office, they are punishing the wrong people.

Is this what it will be like when trying to vote?

I wonder what would happen if TR used a ‘3’ instead of ‘III’. I guess they’d append it to the name and try to pronounce it: RALL3. But how? ‘3’ could be an ‘E’ or a ‘Z’ or part of a ‘B’. All at once, maybe?

Did your surname somehow (via your parents on your birth certificate?) get registers as “Rall III”? If not, then you’re using it wrong. Proper display on forms would be Surname, Given Name, III. (LN: Rall, FN Ted, III)

Was Ted Rall put on the no fly list? I wonder why…

Remember that we nationalized airport security because some people thought that the government would bring a higher level of competence to the task.

hmm, I was born in Washington state, not Seattle. Does this mean I may be facing more proof of citizenship problems in the future?? After all, one of my friends from high school has a “Mexican” last name, and physical appearance, fourth generation born in what became Los Angeles county, and has been stopped in Arizona to prove he’s a U.S. citizen, so will birth certificates now come into question for those poor folks born in D.C. as well? (Not a state.)

Interesting question, since I was wondering if my driver’s license, issued by the State of Jalisco, México, would be considered valid ID.

Wasn’t Ralliii the sidekick in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”?
