Oh my God there's a spider on the windowsill. I want to kill it, but it didn't do anything I wouldn't have done in it's place. But is that even a meaningful statement? Maybe it's just a mechanism not a mind. or are all brains just on a spectrum? Oh no, what if they are? Then I can't kill it.I can't have it's death on my conscience haunting me forever, day or night, sleep or wake. soon... See the spider, kitty? Do whatever comes to mind.

If kitty eats the spider, your conscience will be relieved that the spider died to extend the life of another. Unless kitty dies of a spider bite.

My mother used to like having wolf spiders around the house. They didn’t make webs and they kept the roaches down. Any not wanted in the house would be caught in a cup and paper to cover the cup’s mouth and then released outside. My wife and children do not completely understand why I do that.

Guilt to kill another living creature that we share the Earth with.Someone needs to draw the line. I tell them to keep their distance or they die and don’t surprise me either. Fair warning.

The only spiders I kill in and around my house are black widows and brown recluses. Anything else lives. On the other hand all snakes die. Sorry gotta draw the line somewhere. I don’t trust anything that moves without the benefit of legs and feet or arms and hands.

This is SO totally me. I usually don’t REALLY want to kill the spider, but I’m also too terrified of it to try and catch it and relocate it, so I have to go and recruit…additional help.
