Grandma has more class than to make any comment, but good old Ruthie hits the nail on the head. Odds are that we could all trace our roots back to someone of importance, if that’s our thing.
My maternal grandfather was a guard at the court of King Alfonso XIII of Spain (or as his friends called him, "Alfonso León Fernando María Jaime Isidro Pascual Antonio de Borbón y Habsburgo-Lorena. The king, I mean, not my grandfather).That’s as close as I ever got to royalty (which isn’t very close, I guess, so you don’t have to bow or grovel when you see me. Maybe you could tug your forelock, though – that would be nice).
