    Of course it’s warming, it’s summer in the northern hemisphere!

    The glaciers are always melting.They have to end somewhere.The actual problem is that they aren’t getting any new material.But then, AGW has been around since the 1970s, and Nixon was warned that the oceans would rise ten feet and inundate Washington D.C. and most coastal cities worldwide by the year 2,000.That particular Doomsday Cult needs new material also.

    “if not for global warming all of North America would still be covered by glaciers”…Not at all!Glaciers are caused by global warming, as water vapor is forced by thermal energy into far corners of the globe, there to become trapped as ice and extruded under gravitational force in huge flowing rivers of chilling fresh water resources.The cooling this creates stops the flow of vapor, thus creating glacial recession, desert encroachment and localized atmospheric heating for lack of fresh water resources.

    @BrassOrchid

    So by that logic we are in a cooling cycle (the glaciers are retreating) and global warming is not happening. The other possibility (based on your post) is that there is basically an endless cycle of heating/cooling cycles. An interpretation not supported by the geologic record (yes there were ice advance/retreat cycles in the Pleistocene, but it is not endless). I guess this is why global warming has been rebranded as climate change. Calling it climate change provides the perfect rebuttal to any current condition. If it’s too hot it should be cooler. If it’s too cold it should be warmer. If it’s just right it should be warmer or cooler. Marketing genius!

    Look, Global warming is taking place…But people don’t understand that it is measurable only in geological time…..It’s not going to happen as quickly as some people say….But if you put a crap load of carbon in the air, only one thing can possibly happen, sooner or later. Only one. The collective temperature of the world will go up, making it easier for water to go into the air and cause storms….And big droughts….Mother Nature can be ornery…The mistake was implying it was going to happen right away….But it is happening…The science is overwhelming…

    I have found shark teeth (big ones) in places that are now over 100 feet above sea level.

    Naw, a whole slew of comments from that day got deleted. Taz sets the tone by jumping in early with his “insane liberals” insults and the fight is on. Eventually, someone runs to a mod crying and half the thread gets axed.

    It might have been only hundreds of feet thick where you live but most of the ice sheet was over a mile (5280 feet) high.I’m likely wasting my time, it seems truth gets flagged and removed around here.

    The only way to maintain the glaciers is to feed them water vapor. To do that, we must warm the oceans. To do that, we must remove the glaciers that are cooling the oceans. It may look like I’m only leaning on a shovel, but I am actually hard at work restoring the glaciers and returning the deserts to grasslands.

    It’s not so much that Brass Orchid is ‘taking this too seriously.’ It’s that, for some reason, this comic became trolling ground for human-caused climate change deniers, who use a lot of weird and arcane theories to give us a snow job. Unless they are just rightwing bots.
