It is really, really difficult for a child to move away from all of the friends he has known and enjoyed, to a future without them as he faces all of those changes his life will so experience… ;)
I thought Anne was the worst mom in this strip? Connie’s a ditz, but I don’t recall her showing up unannounced at the doorstep to dump Lawrence off on Elly when she wants to head off and do whatever or whoever.
If I remember correctly, Connie and Lawrence move back and Lawrence and Michael remain good friends, as to Connie and Elly. Connie is doing the best she can for her son – I wonder, how come nobody is is complaining that her son’s father is obviously not interested at all in his child.

1. Connie is moving because she got a job offer for a supervisory position in Thunder Bay, not because she’s hung up on Ted. Anything else is just your own private spin.
2. Connie said she hadn’t told him YET back on August 2, and it is not her fault that he heard the phone message before she had a chance to do so.
Granted that Connie stayed in Montreal and gave herself a makeover rather than running back home when Lawrence broke his leg. That does not, however make her a bad or neglectful mother.
I’m sorry that Lynn’s characters don’t fit into your preconceived notions of motherhood, but it is a comic strip after all, and most of what we see here is MEANT to be a joke.
