According to the Constitution, the Constitution means what Congress says it means until and unless the Supreme Court says otherwise. If you don’t think that is the way it should work, then your quarrel is with the Constitution itself. But perhaps you merely think that the Congress and the Supreme Court should adopt a different interpretation of the Constitution than they have done. I can understand that. But, as Conservatives like to point out, this is not a (pure) democracy, and the people are not empowered to decide by simple majority vote what the Constitution means, what it allows or does not allow. I would say that the notion that the people in general should be the ones to decide what is and is not allowable under the Constitution is a distinctly Liberal notion.

Brat has truly insane and dangerous ideas that would destroy America’s economy, and doesn’t represent the interests of anyone rational.
Believe what you want to believe. No more people vote Democratic for “free stuff” than people vote for Republicans for corporate welfare. Welfare is welfare, regardless of who’s taking. Personally, I’d rather help a person who lost a job and may lose a house than to provide billions in subsidies for oil companies….that’s a lot of food stamps. Neither one of those should get more than necessary and the aid should have an endpoint; neither should be expected for decades.
You obviously feel otherwise. But ignore corporate welfare at your peril, since it is costing more than food stamps.

The Republicans in congress are doing their job very well. If they can’t accomplish anything that Obama won’t veto, then they can stall so that the Democrats can’t accomplish anything either. Their intention is to keep everything just as it is, unless they can manage to return to the “good old days” of the 19th century, before there was a middle class and when only the landed gentry were voters. And, they have a great strategy for accomplishing this. 1. Disenfranchise everyone you possibly can, unless they are dependable Republican voters.2. Produce ads and media emphasis which emphasizes those politicians who are corrupt and incompetent. Paint all Democrats with the same slime. Lacking sufficient actual slime, simply make some up. This undermines the people’s trust in their government and makes them feel like helpless pawns, so they tune out the whole process and accept the status quo. 3. Support the “job creators”, who are the recipients of a huge portion of the GNP, although that GNP was produced by working people, who are receiving less benefit from it every day. This gives them the money to accomplish the other two goals, and leaves everyone except the “job creators” with increasingly less money to mount a counter campaign. So, this is the way we are going lose the middle class and become a country inhabited only by the very rich 1%, and a 99% who are too busy working two jobs to survive to notice.
Check out the polls on what people say they care about. The " care about" issues are income inequality, global warming— etc. Read the polls. On those issues, the voters agree with the Democratic party positions by somewhere in the 60’s to 80’s percentiles, depending on which issue. The intelligent voter, who votes for his actual self interest, and that of the country as a whole, will vote Democratic. The only chance the Republicans have to win that voter is to brain wash him, or to prevent him from voting, which they are attempting to do with less and less success every election.
I don’t get the libs who criticize the tea party people who just want to be FREE…like we used to be…with no jackbooted types telling us WHAT TO EAT …HOW BIG A SOFT DRINK WE CAN BUY….WHAT OUR KIDS EAT IN THEIR LUNCH…WHAT INSURANCE TO BUY..etc…..or let illegal immigrants come here and take our jobs….eat our food stamps….clog our schools…hamper our hospitals….come ON!…do you want a government like that??? I think not.
