Reagan’s economy worse than Bush’s? Unvarnished truth? Try again, scottyboy. At least Reagan kept his private little wars on a smaller scale!

Of course, the economy didn’t turn around under Reagan until after the 1983 tax increase. Not that realty has much to do with Reagan worship or right-wing economics.

Through the E>R>T>A [Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1983, Reagon effected greatest tax increase on the working class and churches in history. Carter had changed this country in the direction of energy conservation and innovation. He stood on principle. Reagan had no principle but, “I am going to show you just how badly this government can be run, so that you will be against the U.S. government the rest of your life!” And Scot took the bate, hook, line, and sinker.

Scott’s knowledge of historical facts is dangerous to civil discourse. I condemn Scott for his daily, anti-American lies which we have to read every day. It is time for Scott to be revealed for the evil for which he stands!

You’re making up facts again, Scott. Boy, it sure is obvious when the new Rep talking points come out, they show up on Fox and this site simultaneously. Scott, other posters have posed questions to you, why not answer?

During 1983, the National Debt also increased by some $200 billion.

“Sure funny how Reagan inherited an even worse economy from the Peanut Farmer (double digit inflation, interest rates, AND unemployment),

No, Scotty. That happened TWO YEARS IN HIS TERM, in 1982-83. Two years since he enacted the magical panacea of tax cuts. You and the gang pounced on Obama in a few MONTHS.

In fact, the economy started getting somewhat better after he repealed many of those tax cuts in one of the biggest tax hikes in post-WWII history.

You know, I wonder if any conservatives hope deep down inside that the unemployment will continue to rise. Not only will this mean more fuel for their criticism of Obama, but it will erase the uncomfortable record of Reagan’s 1983 unemployment rate. It might be quite embarassing, to have the guy who is practically a saint for some right-wing pols (and possibly voters) having been a president over one of the worst economic slumps in post-WWII history.

“By 1983, 13% inflation was down to 3.5%”

Really, Church? Where did you get that from? Because I checked the BLS database (at www.bls.gov , the section on databases and tables), and in no month of 1983 inflation was ever down to 3.5. Here is what it was, month for month, January to December:

    January: 10.4 February: 10.4 March: 10.3 April: 10.2 May: 10.1 June: 10.1 July: 9.4 August: 9.5 September: 9.2 October: 8.8 November: 8.5 December: 8.3

Still notably higher than what Reagan had when he inherited office. But hey, don’t let an opportunity to speak for tax cuts go to waste.

@ Church: mea culpa. I got …… off at scott’s claims about unemployment, and posted unemployment stats, not inflation. Yes, as far as I know inflation in 1982-3 fell significantly, and except a hike in 1989-90 has fluctuated around 2-3 % since.

carter DID not act in the national interest! bleeep fool locked up Alaska, and set energy back for decades. Internationaly, carter and his boy breszinski, created the “creent of crisis” doctraine that produced osama et all, a islamic attack on the USSR( they of course took his and charlie wilsons US monies) and TURNED and bite the handlers ass…. OH, has this nation created and supported others to attack the ussr>? oh yeah, hitler, and HE also turned and bit the handlers back…will we ever learn?

reagan, the TORY- was the first American president to get on his knees and get Knighted and got a lifetime seat on the house of (land) lords. Then came Kissinger, ghw bush, rumsfeld, and all the gop rest. ( there is a law against knighted in holding ANY post in our gov–this is why sir rudy can NEVER run for any federal office again, bleeep fool got on his knees and was knighted by a foreign power- da queen of BP.

that would be “crescent of crisis” from carter, he also published the global 2000 ” report, where the earths “non-whyte”population was to be “reduced” by 1/3rd, via wars, starvation, “birth control” and other ZPG “polices” Even though he DID everything the Royal (oil interests) wanted, he did not get his American knees to get knighted by the queen. He DID kill inflation by killing the credit markets( sound familar>?). by listening to paul voekler, who has too much say today as well.
