Snowden tried to answer the charge that his being in Russia proves his anti-American motives. His reply was that he was stranded in Russia when the State Dept. revoked his passport. Maybe true but misleading. The reason he was in Russia was that that’s where he was supposed to make a connection to Cuba. Cuba! He’s convinced a lot of people that his motives were pure and patriotic, but he’s simply a liar and traitor.
Where in the world do you get the idea that heroes stay and face the music? That is RARELY what actually happens.
Don’t know what you consider George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and the rest of the founding fathers, but if they had turned themselves over to the British, they would have been dead, not American heroes.
I really prefer to take my history with facts, rather than imagining that history fits my ideology.
A hero is someone who runs into a burning building to save a life. .A whistleblower is a person who sees something that is causing a danger or a major wrong or injustice (or will cause) and tells the right authorities and the people that are being harmed or will be harmed. …. .

Heroes stay and face the consequences of their actions. Traitors evade responsibility and run to countries without extradition.
