Hmm, remember how Reagan let AT&T re-write the lawsuit the Carter administration brought to break up Ma Bell? Oh, right, that one was kept more secret than Iran/Contra, but was just as crooked: just think Ed Meese III.

If you can secure a good internet connection from someone other than a cable TV provider, I highly recommend cutting the proverbial cord. An entire year of Amazon’s Prime service, which includes steaming video, costs what the average cable bill costs per month.

Get discs from Netflix and the public library. Watch things on the computer. And occasionally get something through the rabbit ears. Don’t have cable, and from what I have seen in hotel rooms, don’t want it.

Modern version of “1984”. Only it’’s not big Brother who’s in charge, it’s Big CEO.

People are cutting the cord. It is just a matter of time until your Internet connection will cost as much as a cable subscription. The other alternative is you won’t be able to stream anything without paying the toll.

There is no difference because multinational corporations buy both Republicans and Democrats. If a party bans corporate contributions and limits those from individuals, any mention of them is banned by the corporate media (see Green Party).

I’m not planning to cut cable (yet), but I am planning to cut down to a cheaper plan.

And then she turns to him and says, “Let’s see what independent stuff is on YouTube.” And the tag of THAT cartoon is, “Real spoiler alert for service providers.”

You have that backwards. We have net neutrality now; what we want is to KEEP it. The cable companies and FCC are trying to get rid of it.

I use a DSL internet connection from a locally owned regional telecom. I have no issues with their service.

Tigger: in my area you’d be lost, we can only get ABC, CBS, and PBS on rabbit ears, even the ones with signal boosting capability, everything else takes cable or satellite, because most stations took out their repeaters to get here.

As to the ATT & T suit Carter brought, I talked to a lawyer/accountant in Phoenix who was working on the rewrite that the Reagan people allowed ATT & T to rewrite. He pointed out how “Ma Bell” was keeping 99% of their revenue producing functions, and getting rid of 100% of their “losers”, and NOT getting rid of all the Western Electric equipment production, which was a key part of the original suit. Thus today, we have them buying out Direct TV, and increasing their monopoly again.

I have seldom seen such pure crap as that Komando video. Net neutrality is not something new that would be imposed; it’s the current status quo that would be preserved. Not to mention that, if it went away, so would her livelihood – unless she’s willing to bribe all those cable providers to let her in the fast lane.
