As I pointed out yesterday, Trixie attended Nina and Skeezix’s wedding. http://tinyurl.com/kkzyyzk Nina also met Sally. http://tinyurl.com/nq47opl I lost interest before I looked for “Jean,” but maybe it’s a reference to Jean Gillespie, who played Nina on the radio. The strip archivist needs to brush up on continuity.

“That’s what I’m afraid of,” too!.Again, for those with short memories, I had no problem with the trip down memory lane. I’m just complaining about the vehicle – the hypnotist – and Nina’s cruelty to more than one person in this episode..As suggested in yesterday’s panels, today’s panels are reinforcing my fear that this story arc is becoming much darker than it would appear. I wish it had ended Saturday, as some of us had expected, with Skeezix’ “barking like a chicken.” But it didn’t..We know that Nina was mean – the way she treated Skeezix to get him to the show, the way she treated Frank Nelson to get into the show – on counterfeit tickets, nonetheless. And the hypnotist was mean, as well, what with the “bark like a chicken” posthypnotic suggestion..But we now know that Nina is jealous, as well. Regardless of whatever retcon Jim may come up with to explain these three previous women in Skeezix’ life, it looks like she’s already decided that whatever answer he has, it will be the wrong answer..Quoting Satchel Pooch in regards to another Bucky idea in a recent Get Fuzzy episode,.No good can come from this!

Its a comic strip after all, not a reality show!

Thanks, Old Man Mountain for the reference for Skeezix wedding, which was actually the wedding reception. Do you or anyone else know of any GA family wedding ceremonies? I don’t remember any.

Oh, come on, Nina. You are treating your husband like the stuff under the outhouse. “I’m jealous of the women you talk to.” “I’m jealous of those girls you used to know.” Women like that drive their husband’s away.

Nina and Skeezix have been married for years. They are as comfortable with each other as old shoes.

My wife and I have been married for 40 years. Whenever a woman’s name from high school comes up, my wife busts my chops about it just like Nina is doing with Skeezix—but it is just good natured teasing. That’s what it seems like to me with Nina and Skeezix. Nina does not seem vindictive to me.

As for the hypnotist show: I once saw a hypnotist show in Las Vegas and it was very similar to the one Skeezix and Nina saw. Sure the hypnotist made people look foolish but that was the point of the show and seeing people do strange things was what gave humor to the show. Once again, everything was good natured.

Just as I enjoy seeing the Coyote get what’s coming to him in the Roadrunner cartoons, I didn’t mind the irritating Frank getting put in his place. I thought it was a funny visual and although punching someone out seems extreme in real life, this is a comic strip (often with slapstick humor). When Moe smacks Curly on the head with a hammer we laugh but if we saw the same thing in real life we might be horrified. This is not real life, folks.

The exaggerated and physical humor, the corny jokes, the good-natured family humor, the family values, and the familiar and relatable characters are what give GA it’s style. Don’t take it for anything but comedy and enjoy the show.

Everyone’s marriage is different. Perhaps there are those that handle these things better than others..My personal experience is, whenever a girl from my past turns up in conversation, I had better make sure there are pillows and blankets on the couch!.And I suppose that, in the end, Ray Toler is right, Jim will do something satisfactory with this story line. Although, I think I was not alone in thinking this arc was done last Saturday when Skeezix barked like a chicken!.Again, it is my own personal experience that causes great fear and trepidation for and in behalf of Skeezix, who is about to be “blindsided” by remarks he made about women from his past, remarks he doesn’t even know he made..And the artwork of Nina’s face, from what I can see of it, well, Skeezix may have to ask Slim if he can sleep with Dog-Zilla!
