Why is this woman so disconnected that she didn’t bother to check on whether work was being done?

@jay_dallasjust what I thought… this must be how it is in those families where nobody is interested in anything apart from TV and shopping. Well, now the bottom of the slide is already where Holly and her Mom are…. no way to better this situation. Can’t she repeat a year?

Holly better get her act together. Even young people with degrees are having a time getting a job imagine one that can’t even keep up at her age. Mom better start standing right on top of her every day to get her assignments done. I know I was one of those brats.

I agree with @Jay_Dallas & Cruftschamp. Why has Val waited until April to see how Holly is doing in school? Parents are the only ones who can truly hold their children responsible. Val needs to help out Holly’s teachers and get her moving on her work. Taking her phone away for a while was a good start, but she still needs to be more involved.

I was one of those mom’s once when children reached either Jr. HG or HS should do their on school work. I have daughter who worked hard right after school on homework and son older who sloughed it off. He now reminds me of Holly. Both are done with HS. Daughter went to two kinds of college the son sadly would not go to technical college.

Let her flunk what ever grade she is in and have to do it all over again. Maybe she will try harder.

A trip to the school counselor is in order. In fact, a notice from the school counselor is way overdue. We used to get them (by post office) well in advance of this stage.

Me too. I did horribly in math (except for Physics and Logic) and my memory is even worse at my current age (76), but I’m in love with a great guy, so I don’t CARE!!

    Good Plan!
