The “modest proposal” ought to have made it clear that what I was proposing was satire. Look up Jonathan Swift’s “modest proposal” for the “betterment” of Ireland. If you thought I was seriously advocating for those things, I am glad it hit a nerve. I trust any sane person would be horrified by such a proposal, meant in earnest. Just as they would be by Jonathan Swift’s proposal.
