I’m guessing those baseball averages are supposed to mean something I don’t get, since I wasn’t born when this comic first ran.

José Peterson must be like Johnny Cash: has been everywhere.

Based on today’s strip, I have a good idea why I didn’t remember José Peterson. He probably had to move on after a couple of months.

That’s not so much a 1967 haircut as something Schulz made up with his pen.

Is that the distance average shown for Jose Peterson hitting the baseball?

Now what about the rest of the 48 U.S. states?

Close, not just home runs it means he got a hit (single, double, triple and home runs) 64% of the time he was at bat in NM and 85% of the time in ND. If he continued with those numbers he could possibly have gone straight to the majors after high school.

Does this have something to do with air density? Warmer or colder air in different parts of the country?? Any comments??

I’m glad they decided not to color him bright red every time he hit the ball.

I was reading the “Complete Peanuts” for that year recently. Jose’ will disappear for good in just a few days!

Fact: the further away from Mexico you are the more successful you will be.

These are batting averages. A good major league average is over .300, with very few hitting over .400, and a poor average is around .200. So, .640 and .850 are very high indeed. Simply put, a .700 average means in every 10 times he comes to bat, he gets a hit 7 of those times. (hits divided by at-bats)

Jose got signed by the Dodgers where broke all batting records. He got beaned, concussed and retired at 25. After rehab from pain meds. and premature balding, founded theHair Club for Men.
