Sometimes Lucy is almost human. But then she makes up for it.

She was kind of a surrogate mother at times, more with Rerun in later years.

Has anyone ever noticed that Linus is always pictured putting both arms into his sleeves at the same time, rather than one arm at a time? I have noticed that a few times.

Now how come Linus is going to school whereas his older sister Lucy isn’t?

She knows how tough it is out there.

Yeah! Why aren’t they going to school together?

Isn’t Lucy going to school today?

Lucy’s too nice………it must be Saturday.

When I was in grade school I would walk to school. In Jr high I would walk to school. In Sr high I would ride the bus. Each school was a different distance and thus required a different start from home time.

When my daughters were in daycare, that was taught to them. I had taught them otherwise and told them NOT to do it that way. I didn’t like the concept of having the coat on the floor.

Have you never been in a public school? Of COURSE it’s a jungle.

The punchline is no longer a joke. On the upside, I haven’t heard of any school shootings today, but the day is young.

In today’s world, Lucy’s advice in the last panel is all too relevant.

Why? What for?

This strip takes on a different connotation today than when it was written. Back then, “survive” just meant to get through the day without suffering too much physically or psychologically at the hands of your teachers and schoolmates. Shulz was a bright kid who suffered in school.
