I would have just told them “This is the same jerk who Grandpa’s harmonica out the window on purpose”. Then, it wouldn’t have been so “serious”. They would/should have understood what she was dealing with.

In Jim’s age, bullying wasn’t taken as seriously and even regarded as a rite of passage or some such bullcrap.
