Kathy’s closing words are one of my all-time favorite quotes; from Simon & Garfunkel’s song, “The Boxer”.

@vwdualnomand… ah ah ah, you’re stereotyping. I have two pairs of black shoes. One pair has 2 inch heels, and one pair of flats. Not all women love shoes. Or shopping, for that matter. ….Roy, there’s nothing wrong with dreaming. So make a plan, set aside that money, and buy the 100 inch TV when you’ve got the cash. Be different from everyone else who’s ‘gotta have it now.’

Roy, the technology nerd. He sort of sets himself up for disappointment since these days there’s always something better coming out. Might try getting what you need and being happy with it. Something new comes out, “move on.”

Been so long since I read FAHRENHEIT 451, or saw the movie, I have no memory of what ‘walls’ means in context.

It didn’t “come through” too well in the Julie Christie Movie version because the TV was too small and didn’t convey the extent of the “immersion” that Bradbury forsaw as an addiction equal in allure to Drugs or Liquor for those for whom “reality” had little left to offer.

He also disregards the enormous cost of the 3D TV.

Ah, yes, those glorious days of profound, stirring lyrics like, “Lai la lai, lai la lai lai, lai la lai, lai la lai.” IIRC, John Belushi ragged on Garfunkel about that while Art was singing the mellow version of “Wonderful World” he recorded with Paul Simon and James Taylor (neither of whom appeared with him on SNL to sing it).
