I’m sorry, Mr. Oliphant, but the true children are the Republicans that desired and designed a government shutdown as campaign promises in 2010. This is what they wanted. So, stop lumping the Democrats in with them. It’s insulting.
We’ve got all the laws an’ regulations that we could possibly need for at least ten or twelve years…an’ think of all the money we will save!!So, you want Congress to abdicate in favor of the executive? That’s interesting…Whether you think any new legislation needs to be passed, Congress needs to agree on the budget. That’s their job.The GOP has had over three & a half years to negotiate changes in the ACA. Instead they’ve passed 40+ bills to repeal. Now that they have failed, they are taking the economy hostage. If the ACA is going to be the disaster they insist it will be, the GOP will triumph in the 2014 elections. They can override any Presidential veto to repeal Obamacare, authorize the Keystone pipeline, abolish the EPA… the sky’s the limit. What is the GOP afraid of?
If Mrs. Bachmann is indeed telling the truth, that puts her in a very tiny minority within the two houses of CongressYou’re right about that. A faction of the GOP has decided that shutdown & default are worth stopping a law, that if implemented will be so unpopular as to assure them of sweeping the mid-term elections. As far as it being a tiny majority:On cusp of shutdown, House conservatives excited, say they are doing the right thing

“It’s exactly what we wanted, and we got it.” — Rep. Michelle Bachmann on the shutdown.
Truer words were never spoken. :P

Some years ago, the TP’s signed on to the notion that the government should be drowned in a bathtub. They’re making good progress, the traitors…

False Equivalence: it’s not the whole Congress, it’s the Tea Party wing of the GOP and a weak Speaker of the House. The Dems have been the grown ups!

Big Chrono, But Al Gore said that all the Pacific Atolls would be underwater by 2000 if he didn’t get elected!
