In Darby’s defense, being creative is hard work! Even the Creator rested on he 7th day!

Berke Breathed said that most cartoonists on a daily deadline look like Keith Richards after a hard night’s partying. So you either take long vacations, go Sunday only or burn out and retire. I’d rather Darby take vacations than retire.

I respectfully submit that those who feel “disrespected” by strip repeats should get a life.

Gary Larson (The Far Side) was well loved and he burned out and had to retire. I still miss him.

One thing about this repeated story arc is all the wonderful names for fish food. From Flakes and Hakes to sardine sandwiches. Love it.

I don’t think he owes you (us) anything. Maybe he has a very ill family member. Maybe he’s ill. Maybe he doesn’t want a bunch of strangers knowing about it. Jeesh.
