Welcome to Buffalo, MO. I LOVE my public library. My kids live an hour away and they LOVE this library. I think it was a 2 car garage in a past life…so there’s a waiting list from time to time. wait a year or so – it’ll still be a good book.

I’m always putting books and movies on hold at the library and sometimes you do have to wait but it’s usually worth the wait. If it’s really good you can buy it later.

Our local Library is heavily used. Librarys are not just for books anymore. Our has kept up with the time offering internet access, movies and much, much more. Support your local Library.

Here in Eugene, when a fantastic local video store went out of business they donated most of their inventory (which was rich in unedited and directors cut versions of movies most of us have only seen the chopped down versions of) to the local library! Our library is quite good anyway, but with all the great media EVERYONE loves the library, not just the bookworms.

Some libraries have electronic versions of books that can be checked out on-line. These can be read on e-readers or computers. Check out your local library to see if they have this service available. If not, let them know you are interested. If enough people show an interest it could be picked up in your area.

I download ebooks AND audio books from my local library – it’s a great service. No worry about overdue books or making a special trip in the car (with $4 gas).

Better get on that waiting list, Val, if you want to read it that much.

Sounds like that Really Racy book series that has been so popular lately….not sure I would like to read it or not. That’s the joy of going to the library…one doesn’t get stuck with a book that isn’t worth keeping if it had been purchased. I’ve loved libraries since I was a kid.

My wife’s line is “If it wasn’t for the library, I couldn’t support my book habit!” Columbus Metropolitan Library has been voted best library three or four years in a row. Also great for checking out CDs and DVDs! They’re even better now that they’ve joined a regional alliance!

At my local library, they have a library exchange, so we can reserve books from several different libraries, which is great.

Our library is always busy. At our library, they have ebooks, but you can only have the file for a week. I don’t have time to sit and read that fast. I’ve only done that once.
