Given the disasters that have befallen the cruise ship industry lately, it’s a wonder to me that anyone still wants to go on a cruise. Think about it: about the only things that have not happened to a cruise ship lately is that none of them has hit an iceberg, and none of them have been torpedoed. Yet.
Went on cruise and all I got is this stupid life ring for a souvenir. You do know folks this is below fourth class. Should have probably paid a bit more for the upgrades.Hard floating behind the liner towed on a life ring.
J. Short is right…cruises are just floating $$ vacuum cleaners …with decorated carbs passed off or food. When you reach ports, there are lines of more crooks waiting to rip you off.
In defense of the Cruise Industry, cruise ships are nothing more than floating resorts with all the amenities and the added attraction of different ports of call. They offer a wonderful opportunity to experience different customs and cultures and to enjoy the resort experience, at the same time. They give great value for the money spent.In short, cruising is great fun. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea and yes, sometimes things go wrong, but this happens in the best resorts and hotels on land, as well. As a veteran cruiser, I rarely get off at the ports but enjoy the ambience and activities on shipboard. I must, in the interest of full disclosure, admit that I was seriously involved with the industry for over 15 years and still am to a degree as an evaluator and investigator for specific cruise lines. I have had some very interesting experiences – not all of them pleasant – and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a cruise to almost anyone.
