when I was working my boss told us that she did NOT want the details when we called in sick. Just say I am sick or not feeling well and let it go. Besides, they can tell if you are lying if go into too much detail.

Our company provides PTO – Personal Time Off. Sick days, vacation days, personal days off, all wrapped together. NO ONE calls in sick, since people don’t want to take time away from their earned vacation time.

Sneezing and sounding stuffy will be remembered tomorrow when you go to work after a miraculous recovery. Migraines are a great excuse – unless you really have one. Then you’d rather be able to go to work.

Since I live with instant Karma, I don’t call in unless it is real in fear that if I do, I will get sick after the allotted sick days are used up.

Somebody else has to pick up the slack when you are gone.Once or twice is O.K., but some people sure abuse it.

when lying always try to keep as close to the truth as possible and provide as few details as possible. makes it easier later on.

Didn’t Lazarus Long say that the most effective way of lying was to tell the absolute truth, but tell it in such a way that people think you’re lying?

I had an employee who always did his “field work” on Fridays. Eventually I discovered that his field work involved flying from Atlanta to Kansas City to see his son who lived with his ex-wife. When reprimanded, he said I was biased against him! Glad to be retired.

We do the PTO thing too – and are not even allowed to ask why you want it. Good since I really don’t want to know.
