Good cartoon. Those are the real heroes that young people should look up to! I would also include teachers, scientists, explorers, and inventors that have really benefited mankind throughout its’ history. To me at lest, invented super heroes might be entertaining, but are not real heroic figures for our young to look up to. And super wealthy sports and entertainment figures are almost as low on my list as politicians. But, I must admit that is only the opinion of a relatively old man (I am 70 years old). However, still a very good editorial cartoon!!

..teachers as heroes?Don’t you think that they are under worked and over paid? Why they have more days off than on!And…America certainly doesn’t seem to be leading the race in academics…heck…they aren’t even very good babysitters!!!…

I think those who see teachers as over paid and under worked failed to receive a good education. Rising above that is a personal challenge.

So first responders making a buck is a bad thing?Your entire statement is incredible.

Yes. What you are missing is that the crucial thing that makes private health insurance so expensive right now is the numerous onerous government mandates on what that insurance MUST cover, including sex change, Pedophile liability and therapy and countless other ridiculous things that are REQUIRED to be covered because of the nonstop whining of 1% of the population. You can’t choose a less expensive policy that doesn’t include elective procedures that there is no chance that you will ever want. You have to pay for them anyway. Try to imaging if the government made it mandatory for all cars to include limo accomodations with a wet bar as standard equipment. Put on your thinking cap and tell me it that would make the price of a every car go up or down. Take your time!

Actually, that’s not just a hypothetical… Think about the last car you bought and consider the fact that it would have been about 1/3 less expensive if you could have left out the catalytic converter that accounts for about 1% of thepollution reduction and the air bags that have been proven to kill more people than they save.

Nope. I don’t follow tweets and if I did, they wouldn’t include any Kardsashians. But thanks for asking.

The joke is that while the PD and FD peons do the heavy lifting (and it’s very heavy), the misadministrators and union bosses get the $500,000 per year pensions that are bankrupting many states such as CA and NY.

    Why isn’t anybody laughing?

For over three decades, “first responders” were my friends, co-workers, and often “heroes”. Oddly nobody we rescued over the years complained at the time. But many of them did when it came to paying the taxes that paid for their rescues.

Interesting that on these pages, one in particular seems offended that I was ever given a check for doing such work. (btw, owned my own businesses, and worked for private employers as well, so qualified for some Social Security, as well as pension, and disability compensation for the audacity to serve my country and fellow citizens.)

also btw, in addition to being paid for over three decades, volunteered for over an additional decade without compensation to provide care, in fact, had to pay my own costs for annual training, equipment, and travel. Yes, all first responders are just “bums” to some.

I guess those Republicans are in for one whopper of a shock when they find out how much of their compulsory union dues is funneled to Democrat party coffers
