That’s exactly why you don’t have a key, Michael!!

For the black smudges, I think that happened because there are no smudges on the back of their clothes but there are on the front.

In panel 4, the blonde kid is holding a baseball bat… methinks between panels 3 & 4 they played some baseball and got dirty… perfect for going in and “looking after” Mike’s house.

Oops… the kid next to the blonde kid is holding the bat. (Can’t tell the players without a program .. and better glasses)

Not the key, howtheduck, the house to which the key belongs. You aren’t really that much of a literalist, are you?

    a) you only see the BACK of them in panel 1b) your rightc) it’s his shirt and in all panels it’s drooping. NO breastsbecause of the conversation Ellie & Anne had the other day about how Anne missed their times together now that Ellie is working & missed the kids too… I’m betting this is Ellie’s way of solving all problems. You really have to wonder about people who have nothing better to do than criticize a comic strip. You would think that if a person doesn’t like a strip they just wouldn’t read it. People who do that in real life are obnoxious and are not fun to have around. They’re no fun here either.

Don’t be so literal. Lynn was actually referring to the fact that so few of the kids in her neighborhood were “latch-key kids” who didn’t need that much supervision because her small town was relatively safe. Notice that she says that not all of them had their own house keys — and there was no doubt a good reason that they didn’t!

You must be reading a different comment than I do. While she mentions keys, the inference in the strip is still the house, not the key.

When I was growing up, we didn’t have to lock the house or car!

It’s not the key she’s worried about, it’s the house.

I lived in Dormont, PIttsburgh 1940-44. It was super-safe for us then. I’d run all over the place, walk to school (between the two rows of streetcar tracks), walk two blocks to the park, play with neighborhood kids till dark, at ages 5 – almost 9.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SUSAN. Hope you are having a great day. Back in the 50’s in grade school, I had my own key on a chain around my neck. The ribbons were to keep my braided hair from coming loose.

    c. Whatever happened between panels 3 and 4 caused Michael to grow breasts and put his butt on backwards. Maybe someone put a curse on him for calling Annie “dumb”.

    that made me laugh!
