I’m with King Kong. I don’t get how a high altitude makes you age faster. Also, how does one inhale a cigar that big when lit?

Relativity theory . . . time moves more slowly when gravity field is more intense.

What about the town that voted for a cigar store Indian — and the cigar store Indian won.

I recall reading in the Guiness Book of World Records of a giant cigar in Cuba in c.1930’s. Anybody else see that?

Age faster on top the Empire State Building? Shouldn’t it be age slower since you would be traveling faster [increasing distance from center of Earth increases the circumference of the circle you’re traveling] and Theory of Relativity has processes slowing down with faster speed? Maybe there’s more pollution up there or something.

The Empire State Building has two relativity effects. General relativity says you age slower in a stronger gravity field. Special relativity says you age slower if you are travelling faster. The monkey is travelling a bit faster because of earth’s rotation. The math is difficult. It’s not clear which effect wins, unless we trust that they have done the math correctly.

I’m thinking Godzilla, who wouldn’t need a lighter.Since free radicals in oxygen play a part in our degeneration, I’d sooner expect high altitudes to mean less aging.

I totally agree with you.I wish the people would wake up to the mess that we call D.C. and vote the rascals out! Fire more than half of the civil “servants”, and repeal the tax laws, and all other laws…simplify, simplify, simplify. Start over with people who realize it’s “We, the people” NOT the govt that should have the power.

Given the increase in height and the earth’s circumference and rotation, it would mean that at the top of the ES building he would be moving FASTER than the people on the ground. That being the case, with relativity, he should — it seems — actually age SLOWER than the people on the ground.
