Yeah – 50 cents won’t even get you a candy bar these days!

Is this an incentive or a bribe?

Knowing the big sister, it was an out and out bribe. But, next time Alix, I would hold out for a bigger one—like 5 Canadian dollars!!!! Then, it would be worth it.!! Plus, ‘Biscuit’ would feel better.

Alix should’ve bargained it up higher but even so she’s the one getting some fresh air and exercise and spending some time with the dog. Later when the dog loves her more than Holly, Holly will have only herself to blame.

Alix probably could have gotten more money from Holly (she has done it before) but then the joke wouldn’t have worked.

Go over to Red and Rover. Fifty cents might get you two gallons of gas, five Brown Mules, or the blue plate special.

Actually, Biscuit should feel complemented that it was only 50 cents - that means that Alix didn’t really mind taking her for a walk. If Alix had asked for more, and Holly had paid it, it would mean that neither girl wanted to do it.
