He’s learning young how to be male. Men never want to give up anything!

Don’t stereotype. In this house my wife is the pack rat. Every couple of years I have to make her clean out her closet and desk. Love her dearly but we run out of space..

I think it skips a generation in our family. My mom’s a pack rat and I’m an anti-pack rat and my daughter’s a pack rat.

I’m a super pack rat. I keep a lot of boxes on the shelves. I call them space savers — if you need a space, get rid of a box. Presto! Empty space!

OK, to the point, “WHAT IS IT?”

I used to have yard sales. I would cart out a bunch of junk and what didn’t sell, I would then put away. I learned after that. You are supposed to cart it all out to the front yard and then what doesn’t sell, should get left for the trashman.

It is about time to do another.

I’m a pack rat on books. I like pleasure reading books. Books have to wait for awhile on-line class work. I have now for relaxing until June 3rd back to studies.

A woman of my very close acquaintance has eggs covering the dining room table. Everyone has to eat in the living room. I did clear a space for myself and the youngest. We’re getting rid of the eggs a little at a time.

My dad (now deceased) was a real pack rat. My mom isn’t nearly so bad (although she does keep more stuff than she really needs). Because of that, I, too, have a “pack rat” tendency but nowhere near as bad as either of them and it’s something I work on pretty much everyday so that I don’t wind up on a future “Hoarders” show someday. (Just kidding! My husband would probably DIVORCE me if I ever started to get that bad!)

My husband, on the other hand, is a pretty minimalist person. He moved around a lot as a kid because of his father’s work (he was a project manager for a huge construction company) and because of that, his family didn’t keep a lot of things they didn’t absolutely need because it was too much of a hassle to constantly pack and unpack non-essential items (and my husband is still pretty much the same way today even though we’ve been living in our house for 23 years now. Don’t NEED it? NOT keeping it!). Because he’s such a minimalist person, I keep the entire house neat and tidy with the exception of one area — my office. While I got a majority of it cleaned up and reorganized last summer, I didn’t get the job completely done so I fully intend to finish that particular project this summer and hopefully, I’ll never EVER let it get that bad again!!!!!

    ;-)

I have WAY more stuff than I need at any given time. Many sets of china, many tools for crafts I seldom indulge in any more. My work room has a very old Ziggy cartoon enlarged on the wall “It’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not HAVE it!” I guess I live that way ;-D

@How-duck, OK the head is a bit far but the position is do-able otherwise!
