What is Evie holding in the first panel – a strainer with not bottom?, And whutinthuhheck is she putting into the pot in the last panel – raw ginger or ginseng root? Either those, or I am so in need of much more coffee right now.

A wise Gran’ jumps on the offer: the kids get her room and she gets Joan and Wally’s house.

Hard to show the whole strainer at the edge of the panel? I think she’s holding a 1/2 gallon milk carton at the end.

In the first panel it looks like a hand mirror and in the last one it’s a carton of milk.

I think the object in the first panel is a frying pan. If the inside were colore gold, the dimension would be lost.

Good sleuthing on what she’s holding, folks. I guess if the women can have four fingers per hand à la comic-style convention, then she can be holding a screenless strainer frame and a nearly-empty milk carton that’s being held funny.

At bedtime, there’s no reason Joan’s kids couldn’t sleep in their own beds as long as Grandma stays with them. How much trouble could they get into in bed? Now during the day, that’s another matter.

Remeber Val has to work during the day – or did she plan in advance and take some vac time?

I love that most of the comments are aimed at the pan and milk carton. =D

Day time’s easy dblbaraje, the 3 older kids are in school, so Evie just has the baby & Max to contend with. Night time should be easy too. Andy in a sleeping bag on the living room floor. The baby in a portable crib, Max could sleep with one of the ladies, or on the floor with Andy & the 2 girls in their own beds.
