Good on you, Joy. At our age, you takes ‘em where you gets ’em.In addition to arthritis, there’s the indignities. Good lookin’ young wimmen are friendly now because they’ve figured out we’re harmless. People stand up when we enter a room, not because of respect but to get ready to either get out of the way or catch us if we fall. If something smells, they always look at us. And they talk out loud about us, assuming—correctly—that we can’t hear them. Then there’s always the permanent change to black slacks. (If you can’t figger that one out, you’re not old enough.) At least we get to have supper at 4:30.

Yes, Joy…. very flattering…. she probably started receiving that kind of flattery when she was 37, and looked 56.

“Oh, your granddaughter is so cute. That’ll be 25 cents for a senior coffee.”"That’s my daughter! "“Oh, I’m so sorry. That’ll be $1 for the coffee.”“What was I thinking? I mean she’s my granddaughter, of course. Here’s the 25 cents.”

Sr discount at Golden Choral is a free drink. That makes sense since the Sr’’s eat a lot more than the younger teens. My mom then 89 asked for a kids price she got it . Only had 1 piece of chicken and a sweet potato 8 yr old ate his money worth and more. The pennies should pay twice as much. What they eat there and what they take home in their purses.

I went out with a friend of mine and the young lady at the movie automatically gave us the Senior discount when we bought tickets. I asked her why and she said anyone with gray hair had to be a senior. lol (I didn’t have gray hair but my friend did). I know several folks that turned gray in their 20’s and my son is mostly gray and he is not yet 40. Can’t judge a book by the cover, or in this case the age by the gray.

Looks like the travel decal says: “Oblando”. That would be appropriate. That bag looks too small for a normal Penny motel raining party. The oversize duffel is probably inside. They’ll wait in their room for a housekeeper cart to stray down the hall and wait for the housekeeper to go into a room and then pounce! Bye bye soap, lotion, shampoo and the dozens of shower caps for Burl!.It’s 5 O’Clock in Dublin…..time for a big glass and a wee glass. Slainte. Enjoy the day!

While I was away at college my parents moved. Several months later when I returned to visit I discovered rather quickly that my mother had neglected to tell people that she had a third and older daughter! Made me laugh!

In the morning there’s gonna be a 2 person stampede at the complementary (all you can eat and swipe) breakfast buffet.

Happy St Paddy’s day to ye, its cloudy and drizzly here in the PacNorthwest, a perfect “Irish” day! Hoist a green one in me name, I can’t have any alcohol with the antibiotics, poor me. Why are the Penny’s paying for a motel? Don’t they have any distant relatives they can mooch off of? Thats how my in-laws traveled, Never driving farther than the next friends house. And thus they hop-scotched their way down the coast!

animalheck: I liked your take on the name of the inn. It might have a policy of, “seniors, give it your best shot” or seniors of a certain gender might believe such a place has a magic aura.
