    Thank you; I wasn’t aware of the sixth amendment. Since I’m not in the USA, it’s not required reading in our schools. It reads to me as if the accused is innocent until proven guilty, but the crime is assued to be a fact.

    My thoughts, too. But who’s the accused? :)

    @Zero-Gabriel In U.S. court dramas on TV, it is very common to hear a character “plead the fifth” when asked a question to avoid incriminating him/herself with the answer (even when the person in question isn’t the accused).

    Oh, all of them are the same, with big opinions! (Referring to the “you two are a pair” quote)

    Doggone it. Does that mean I can’t use the expression “I plead the fifth” now that I live in Canada?

    BRAVO! I actually keep a pocket version of the Constitution in my car. Remember that when you say “Support Our Troops” that they’re fighting for all of our rights. Considering their sacrifices, is it too much to ask that we all should have a general knowledge of those rights?

    @Saskfan

    You said: “Since I’m not in the USA, it’s not required reading in our schools”

    We are taught little to nothing about Canada in our US schools.(Maybe the states bordering Canada do a little better than others.)For example, if you ask a US student how many British colonies there were in North America, they will probably say 13.

    I think that Holly is in the right here – I don’t mean about the number of the amendment, but about the principle of the thing. In this case, IMHO, Val is the one who needs to grow up a little.

    Thank you, I too was wondering what the 6th was, started to move on to the next comic, then decided to scroll down, as someone would enlighten us. You did not disappoint.

    But those innocent people (often in Texas) were proven guilty to the satisfaction of the court and a jury of their peers. And up here, there are Steven Truscott and David Milgard, who were both exonerated many years after being wrongly convicted.
