My mom chose to stay at home and take care of my siblings and me, and I remember her complaining about women’s libbers who belittled women who made that choice. Mom was in favor of equal rights for women, but she believed that staying at home and taking care of the kids and doing the housework was a valid choice and women should have the right to make that choice.

We all want something different, which is a good thing since there is rarely enough of any one thing to go around.

Andrea tried so hard with Zenith to make her a strong female much like herself. Even before she was born. I wonder if Andrea is disappointed with her daughter’s choices?

This is a difficult one, especially for baby boomers who worked so hard to get women accepted in the workplace. My mom did it all also — she stayed at home, and also worked in an office as my sister and I got older. I did the opposite — I worked and now I’m at home raising children and soon I will be figuring out what’s next on my path. To me, that’s what it’s all about, having choices and doing what’s right for you. When I was younger, there was the impression that women had to work in order to “have it all”, but I think that is no longer the case.

It seems like Andrea is disappointed that Zenith didn’t choose what Andrea did, but she hopefully realizes that Zenith is doing what’s right for her and that’s a good thing. Maybe later Zenith will decide to go out and work, or she may decide to start her own business. There’s still a struggle to get women as accepted as men in some situations, breaking down barriers and rejecting stereotypes, but it has gotten better as what was once different is now the norm. Bravo to the ones who paved the way!

Hello Cathy friends! Happy Wednesday! Have a great day, all!

Agree lightenup…but also think women should receive some compensation for raising the next generation if they do decide to stay home and do it. All other developed countries have some sort of “mother’s allowance” paid to women for raising their children. In this country (until recently, but that will just be temporary), any woman that needed govt money for raising their children was treated with contempt and said to be on welfare.
