Cathy: No, thanks. I don't want to spend any money. Saleswoman: Of course you don't. But if you don't spend any money, our store will lose money. If our store loses money, my hours will be cut and I'll lose money! If I lose money, I'll spend less at my neighborhood shops and restaurants, and they'll all lose money! If all those places lose money, all the people who work in those places will lose money and they'll spend less in their neighborhood shops and restaurants, and they'll all lose money! And on and on and on and on...your frugality launches a downward spiral of devastation, crushing the hopes and dreams of... Cathy: OK! OK! I'LL TAKE IT!! Saleswoman: New for spring '09: "haute guilt".

Wow, Cathy just got close lined by ‘trickle down economics’. Who would think her meager trickle could crush the economy and end the world as we know it.

Sheesh, saleslady … laying on the guilt pretty thick, aren’t you? I get that businesses need money to survive, but only in Cathy’s world would lines like this be used. I hope.
HI, MOM. Happy Sunday, Clan.

Yup – way to close to today’s reality although we have seen this before but with different causes.
We have, yet, no intentions of laying off our support staff even though they number of contacts has dropped considerably. Had to contacts today, yes on Sunday, from new clients who figured out this slowdown is an excellent time to get training on new software so are going ahead with the install. Like it when people realize this is a temporary setback and things will recover. My daughter was laid off from the firm she works for. She did volunteer to be one of the first since her partner is showing some mild symptoms (doctor said it cold be just a bad cold or mild flue – not necessarily Covid-19) so they are both self-isolating. Too bad since on her morning train commute this last week there were only 3 other people in her car. Excellent for social distancing. Fortunately our government has already put in place procedures so she does not have to wait to get her EI (Employment Insurance). The payments won’t be anywhere near what she was earning but enough to live on for a few weeks.
I hope everyone here is healthy – and happy too. Have a great Sunday.

WOW! Talk about a “full-court press” sales job ….. and over a silly little summer top that you don’t even need either! :-o
Cathy, you’re a hopeless shopaholic with no willpower whatsoever. Please seek professional help for your addiction before you spend your way into the “poorhouse”! :-/
P.S.: And take Irving with you because his addiction to all the newest, latest, greatest tech gadgets is a very expensive one too!
.
Hi, rgcviper! :-)
hendelca: So sorry to hear your daughter got laid off and her partner is sick (with hopefully just a bad cold and not Covid-19). Sending love and prayers they’ll both be okay and that things will turn around for them again soon! ♥
.
Hello and Happy Sunday, fellow Cathy fans. Hubby, Mom and I are doing fine and hope that everyone else here is too! :-)
