Woman: Grilling produces two potent carniogens: "HCA's" form inside the meat, and "PAH's" form when fat from meat, poultry or fish drips onto hot coals. The "PAH's" are deposited onto food through smoke or the flare-ups that create those yummy, but possibly toxic, black grill lines! Cathy: Marcia brought the risks of eating vegetables. Woman: Pesticides! Environmental toxins! Contaminated rainwater! Unregulated imports! Cathy: Kim brought the risks of eating pie, potato salad, and chips. Irving: Did anyone bring any food? The human body is an amazing thing and is capable of handling many things (in moderation). I feel that as long as we try to eat good, healthy food, our bodies can handle most of the issues that might come from it.

Well, Kim will be very disappointed to know that I had leftover apple pie for dessert last night (as well as potato salad and chips at the 4th of July party we went to on Thursday). As for Jan, she’s going to be absolutely horrified to hear that my husband will be cooking us a couple of nice, thick, juicy hamburgers for dinner tonight ….. on our charcoal grill! ;-)

Wow! L’il is 14 already? I think time is going by way too fast.lightenup please be sure to wish her a Happy Birthday from me. (and welcome back). Just got back myself. Spent a week in a hot, dark, auditorium doing the lighting and effects for my home town’s 100th celebration. Now I remember why we don’t put on variety shows in the summer. It was hard to get commitment from performers and crew and really hard to sell tickets. It seems we were scheduled on the second weekend of the celebration and all the visitors went home after the first weekend. Ah well, we did have fun anyway and won’t lose too much money.
I’ve been home for less than an hour and am being told it is time to mow the lawn. Have a great day!
