The right answer is “do whatever you and your partner want”! For some that means to ignore it, for others that means exchange cards, for others that means a dinner out, for others that means chocolate, flowers, fancy watches and/or jewelry. The list is endless. Why does everyone think they need to tell others what to do? Sure, the various industries would like to make some money because this is a big day for them, but no one is holding a gun to your head saying you have to do or buy anything. So just relax and laugh (or roll your eyes) at the ridiculousness that is our dear favorite whack-a-doodle, Cathy.

Dinner out and the exchanging of a nice, heart-felt card of love for each other. That’s the only thing my husband and I have done for years when comes to Valentine’s Day ….. birthdays ….. anniversaries ….. and it suits the both of us just fine. Christmas is the only excep-tion we made to the “no-gift-exchange” policy we agreed to more than 20 years ago because, well, after all, it IS Christmas so how could we not?! ;-)
