At my age any reason not to shovel snow should be investigated.Genetic material should not be abused.Late in march I will see if there is a forum to discus this pressing

Great contemplation, Calvin. By the way how do you know if it is a snowman or snowwoman? The answer is snowballs.

The snowman is contemplating the possibility that his ancestors were all a bunch of flakes.

if the snowman is thinking that he evolved from a snowball, and, snowflakes, but, then, who made him and the snowball? what about the flakes? and, how is it that no 2 flakes are the same, but created the ball and him?

Not too far off…. in fact, we’re “snowing” our genetic material all over the place. Everywhere each of us has been, we’ve left our genetic, molecular signatures behind. We’re shedding cells constantly. Our computer keyboards are covered with them. Most of the dust-bunnies in our houses contain our RNA and DNA. Is a dust-bunny just one of our minature snowmen/women? hhmmm……

Every one knows that Frosty the snowman was the first snow man to exist. All snow men from that day forward are descended from him. Which is why snow men only exist in the winter. As for the more Apocryphal snowwomen. Only a snow man can create a snow woman…

Cause there is not a snowballs chance any of it is real…

    Fnord!!!!

@bizaker: There are millions of Christians who believe that God and evolution can coexist. But it seems like we dont hear from them very often in a forum like this. Perhaps that’s because it isnt a strong emotional issue for them, like it can be for some conservative Christians and atheists. The issue for Christians is how literally one interprets the creation stories in Genesis.

“Contemplating snowman evolution” my foot! If anything, he’s more likely contemplating who he’s going to throw it at instead . . . so Calvin, you’d better watch out. Just because you created him doesn’t mean he’s not going to turn on you if he gets the chance!!!!! ;-)

I’d think that a snowman would have no more problem throwing a snowball or shoveling a sidewalk, than we have draining a swamp, or eating a chicken, or even discarding “disabled” fetuses.

Evolution isn’t a series of mixed up accidents. It is the environment that dictates evolutionary action. If the organism can’t adapt it dies out.

What you are referring to is “natural selection”. It is a bit of a leap of faith to get to what is usually meant by “the theory of evolution”.

Yes they do, they make up the bulk of those who accept some parts of Evolution. Only 13-14% (including me) accept the evidence from Science alone.

Science does not disprove “Divine Creation”. In fact, I see no disparity between the two.

Some higher being may well have sparked life here gazillions of years ago – much in the way an arsonist lights a match – but the course the fire takes following the lighting of that match is entirely dependant on the environment into which the fire spreads. Create/evolve can coexist. All it takes is two sets of open minds.
