If he’s clever enough to make broccoli in a factory, he deserves to make a profit. Most people farm it.

Some gm scientist once said broccoli could be made to taste like chocolate.

We grew broccoli all the time, enormous tender heads sometimes as big as basketball hoops with nets. You never get all the little caterpillars out — they’re the same color as the plants. When you boil the stalks, the caterpillars die and float to the surface. Most of them do, anyway. They ones we may have unknowingly eaten were extra protein! Don’t grimace that way, you city folk — it’s better than eating pesticides!

It’s all marketing. He named his product Wonka Brocca Bars. Maybe Brassiwonka would’ve worked.

Re: emptc12 and boiling broccoli. Just covering with water also gets (most of) the caterpillars out. They say that boiling also gets rid of good cancer-fighting things. Nuking or steaming is supposed to be better, if you’re cooking them.

Something for everyone – we love broccoli, but I don’t understand why people eat mashed potatoes. And if only french fries tasted as good as they smell!

@emptc12That brocolli sure sounds good! ’Pillers or no, I would like it better that the stuff they spray for bugs. Did you also have brussels sprouts the size of baseballs? I found some in CA this past summer. If anyone has eaten cod, you should see the worms that float out when you soak the filets overnight.Happy Filet-O-Fish and Long John Silvers, you all!!

Hey. They are better than Brussels Sprouts plain. I love broccoli covered in a creamy cheese sauce or melted herb butter. (Have even ate them plain OK but needs some salt and pepper)Now cheese or butter out the sprouts. Sign me in.

I have read that the ability to taste and enjoy broccoli is learned, but also has some genetic basis (like the ability to enjoy the taste of cilantro). I’ve also read that we are soon going to have to learn to enjoy insects in our diet. Might as well start with caterpillars!

I’ve heard that children don’t like broccoli, and never could understand that. I’ve always loved it, boiled. It also makes a lovely salad.
