According to the Encyclopædia Britannica, “The use of evergreen trees, wreaths, and garlands to symbolize eternal life was a custom of the ancient Egyptians, Chinese, and Hebrews. Tree worship was common among the pagan Europeans and survived their conversion to Christianity in the Scandinavian customs of decorating the house and barn with evergreens at the New Year to scare away the devil and of setting up a tree for the birds during Christmastime.”Taken from the Christmas tree wiki. er, and Encyclopædia Britannica, originally, although I don’t know the source material for that one.

That’s not a very appealing decorated reed. But the underlying idea is not bad. Maybe instead of entrails and organs it needs baubles, bangles, and candles, and on a more substantial stock….

Christmas organaments!Huh. Whenever I tried to decorate the tree with viscera, my family wanted me to see a doctor. They wanted more tinsel, less tonsil.

Not really sure what Maat’s doing in the first panel. Where is her other leg? Is she … straddling a table or something?

A spindly plant in a “canopic” jar? That’s legal in Washington State if it’s under an ounce.
