Yep. Birtherism won’t die until the GOP kicks out the loonies. And the GOP won’t revive as a party until that same time.

46% believe that humans appeared on earth in their current form 10,000 years ago or as Lewis Black put it, they think that the Flintstones is a documentary. That’s pretty close ot a majority.

Donald Trump gets his energy from media attention, just as evil spirits manifest themselves through belief of ignorant, superstitious people..Trump sticks his feet into the media water, and the little reporter fishies forage for goodies in the dead skin around his toes..Ignore him. Turn off every program that features him. Buy no publication that shows his picture or presents his opinions. The media will eventually get the idea and drop him like the gilded turd he is..If he didn’t have money, he would be considered a Village Idiot. The same goes for Charlie Sheen. .Why do otherwise sensible people help make these people rich? Sometimes I despair of those around me who prefer to wallow in mud-stupidity and anti-knowledge..Scientia sol mentis est (Knowledge is the sunshine of the mind).

Oh, don’t feel sorry for the Donald. He’ll always have Romney willing to drop everything to visit him in Las Vegas.

Why does the LSM ignore so much of what Trump does? Why is it that only Fox continually brings us the word of Donald?

@emptc 12Loved your analogy about the reporters giving Trump a fishy pedicure. Too bad there’s no brain cure for Trump. I’ve personally ignored the “gilded turd” for a few decades now. I just wish other people would also ignore him.

I’ve pointed this out before: half of all Americans are of below average intelligence, and a good many more aren’t much smarter than that, and too many of them vote. The Richthuglicons have positioned themselves to take advantage of those facts and have become the party of the stupid, the resentful and the hateful (and the Democrats are the party of the appalled and apoplectic). I fear we’ll all reap the whirlwind as a result.

You are right, of course, and that’s why I chose the broader term “intelligence” rather than “IQ.” And one cannot go from the “average” to the individual, but I’m dealing in generalities. As for the Republicons “liking” close races, I’m sure they’d prefer to win outright. But by appealing to the bottom half, it’s unlikely that they’ll do better than close. However, they’ve a proven track record of managing to fudge election results (trying to keep folks from voting being just one example), and thus close is often good enough. Just like in hand grenades, if not necking.

IF Romney wins, the people who voted for him will be in for a rude awakening when they discover what big mouth can’t deliver. And with what he can. Take away rights of women over their bodies, another war, unless you believe the latest incarnation of “the peace Romney” will he be the sever conservative, the moderate, the whatever? We don’t KNow! Obama has lowered the deficit, kept the economy growing in spite of the obstruction by all the GOP congress, ended the Iraq war, and fulfilled 192 of his promises!

I don’t really like the pompous Donald, but I hope Barry says yes and gives the 5 million to the poor because after the past 4 years a lot of people could use it. Why doesn’t he just show his transcript and passport papers????

Well, Radish, it would seem that we are of similar age (the 1950 US Census totaled 152 million, the latest about 310 million, and the global population has tripled in that time), and of similar pessimism concerning our future prospects. Perhaps the only difference might be that I strongly suspect that the unraveling will continue well into the long-term future, and that that future will likely be much worse than any of us care to imagine (e. g. Hurricane Sandy etc. on the right hand, black swans http://tinyurl.com/2ngwkw on the left, and Teabaggers on the far right).

May it be so. An empty box is appropriate for Romney, the empty, lying shapeshifter. As well as for the hypocrites voting for him, no matter that he’s lied and etch-a-sketched his positions so much that the righties can’t even say what his positions are anymore.

Anyone fooled by this latter-day used car salesman deserves “empty” on November 7th. May the real world finally be able to move on from the quibbling deceit that has become the hallmark of today’s GOP. Lincoln, Eisenhower and perhaps St. Ronnie Ray-Gun himself (who would not have survived a GOP primary today) are likely rolling in their graves.

“7 billion? How many people did America add to the total in those years? We only have 300 million total. Where did all those people come from and which country is feeding them?”

Funny you should connect population growth and foreign aid. There are two opposing schools of thought on that:

    1) U.S. foreign aid to struggling nations can usefully include family-planning services, pharmaceuticals, devices, or even simply educational pamphlets;2) U.S. foreign aid to struggling nations that would include family-planning services, pharmaceuticals, devices, or even simply educational pamphlets should be expressly prohibited.

Can you assign the respective “school colors” to the two? Your choices are “Blue” and “Red.”

Extra credit: Reconcile your original statement with your position (whatever that may be) on China’s “One Child” policy.

I don’t read Ima’s posts, but I gather from what others say that they aren’t distinguished by their intelligence.
