The biggest mistake was made by the WHO who was very slow in demanding access to the lab in question. By the time their team was allowed to visit the premises, there was nothing left to see. You’re implying a coverup. What Fauci has said over and over is that you go with the best information you have at the time. In a dynamic situation, your best information changes rapidly as new research comes in. Fauci said that it is highly unlikely, though not impossible, that the virus originated in a lab.

I have read, from a usually reliable source, about the source of the Wall Street Journal article last month that reported on the suspicious “illnesses” of three Wuhan Institute of Virology workers in November 2019 (which article seems to have initiated the recent interest in this theory of COVID-19 origination). The people who wrote that article were some of the same individuals who, in 2002, repeatedly asserted that weapons of mass destruction were spread throughout Iraq. This origin theory of COVID-19 may still be valid, but I would prefer a more reliable source for this information.
