You can have the oysters scalloped too, Wiz.

From: “Miss Fluffy’s Rice Cook Book”

Published By: Rice Council for Market Development

(early to mid 60’s?)(It’s actually more of a pamphlet than book and there is no further publishing data listed.)

    Received: Compliments of DELTA RICE

    SCALLOPED    OYSTERS   AND    RICE

    4 tablespoons butter or margarine
    3/4 cup onions, chopped
    1 cup celery, diced
    3 cups cooked rice
    1 pint oysters
    2 teaspoons salt
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup milk and oyster liquor
    1 cup grated sharp cheese
1 cup rice concentrate cereal, buttered

Melt butter in skillet. Add onions and celery; sauté until tender, but not brown.
Remove from stove and stir in cooked rice and mix well.
Butter a casserole and add a layer of oysters which have been salted and peppered; then add a layer of rice mixture.
Proceeding in this manner until all the oysters and rice have been added.
Pour the milk and oyster liquor over all.
Spread grated cheese over the rice mixture and top with buttered rice cereal.
Bake in a covered casserole in a 400 degree oven for 30 minutes.
    Serve piping hot. Serves 8.

    Notes from me:
1 pint of oysters is 473 mls for cooking purposes.
Oyster liquor is the juice which spills out of the oyster’s shell when the oyster is shucked.
Rice concentrate cereal is puffed rice under another name. (Think breakfast cereal.)

His long posts don’t bother me a bit. I take a look at what it is and if I’m not interested it is extremely easy to skip. So what is the problem?

    @Alexikakos from yesterday;
Mombi wasn’t an original character (Neither was Ozma). In the Wizard of Oz it states clearly that there is a good witch in the north and south and an evil witch in the east and west. Baum changed many things as the series progressed, such as the thought that people don’t die in Oz. That was not a concept in the original book. Fear of dying was expressed several times, but as the books went on he added Ozma who was not an original character as well as many, many more and he added many new things to his fairyland. I am not criticizing him for doing so, I loved the books when I was a child, but the FIRST book is very different from the following ones. I noticed this even as a child and wondered why the first book was so very different in so many ways from the ones that followed.

Exactly the same problem many internet users have with ads, that’s why we install AdBlockers. Some of us can’t be bothered to censor space-wasting comments. I’m not the only one. There are certain boards on this site I can no longer visit, because they’ve been taken over by Facebook type personal gossip. It’s simply a matter of consideration towards other users.
