It reminds me of that armored carriage which was armed with a Gatling gun on a turret that was in the 1967 John Wayne movie, “The War Wagon”!

30 mm isn’t that large. It’s a little over an inch (25.4 mm) in diameter.

Crazy Ed knows as much about metric measurement as he does ordnance. A 30 mm morter (sic) would be something small enough for an infatnryman to carry. It would be a short tube 1-3/16 inches wide.

The majority of Allied casualties in the western theatre were killed or injured by the German 88mm mortar.

A three man team for each mortar— one to carry the base plate, one to carry the rest of the mortar and one to carry the rounds.

30cm would be very much of a mortar – 30mm not so much.. Good as the idea probably were, knowing metric system could had helped to deliver it. :p

That’s more 30 cm than 30 mm; but Americans make a ludicrous mess of the metric system in any case. I’ve seen them talk of ,9mm and .122mm weaponry – and the latter was in a book of military history!
