Here is a good example of zero imagination.

Right on point. Can the country survive another 4 years of this do-nothing Congress?

That is a fairly reasonable assessment, but there is always the hope of 2014, when such people can indeed lose their stranglehold on both Congress and the nation!

Susan Rice didn’t even get nominated before the RWNJs rejected her.

Geo. Washington – Political parties will divided and weaken the nation.
How weak can these parties make us? And what can we do to change their minds.
Write to them. It’s a start.
    Respectfully,

I think Israel is more well-represented in Congress than the average American who makes less than ten million dollars a year.

The Repubs said Dems shouldn’t block appointments because the president should be entitled to have who he wants around him, yada, yada, all through Bush’s terms.

Yes, but what the Democrats should do and what the Republicans should do are completely different things. Remember, according to Mourdock, compromise is when the Democrats change their mind and see things his way.

“Congress works more like they were written by Alfred E. Newman!”

    I definitely like that one!

Or the Dems can pull a Tom Delay and gerrymander whenever they feel like it, census be damned… Of course they have to have a majority in local legislatures to do it.

Sadly, political parties wouldn’t exist if we didn’t want them to- but we do, because it makes it easier to identify targets for our vitriol without such time-consuming things as “forethought” or “consideration”. Americans love to hate- and given no other target, we’ll hate each other just as gleefully.

Just think; they are only there because the people voted for then; therefore it is what the people want!

lol! On Jan. 10, Stephen Colbert took stock of President Barack Obama’s second term, which will begin in two weeks. He has declared the second term a failure.

“And it’s a disaster,” he said. “But the point is, I gave it a chance.”

    @The Wolf In Your Midst

Therein lies the Hunt friend Wolf!
You are fooled by the mists of Status Quo in which the cunning Repuffalo and Demolope live.
There are tools made available to voters but the Reps and Dems keep us divided into tribes of left and right in order that we not join together to drive them over the cliffs of sanity.
Leaving the wolf hunt metaphor aside….
If all of US, here in GC, found one thing upon which we agreed, referendums could be passed, petitions signed, and legislation passed as the elected felt the power of the electorate.
For instance, if we all agreed that, when you’re thirsty, clean cold water is good. We have to agree on how clean the water should be, how cleaning it and delivering to users should be done, etc. But telling him he’s a poopyhead for thinking water needs to be free of minerals, or that he’s a stinkybritches because he thinks a little mercury and dioxin in the water isn’t that bad, isn’t helpful. Tune them out, they are both full of crap. Find the center, set the standard, write the petition, write to legislators, talk to friends and neighbors, force a vote. Then move on to the next topic.
I don’t want parties to exist, they want themselves to exist and they’ve convinced too many to vote for the party and not the person.
George Washington would have called that Un American.
    Respectfully,
    C.
