The Tea Party representatives from farm states will elinimate all that wasteful spending on farm subsidies. Won’t they?
human said, 4 months ago
@braindead08
Sure they will but after they eliminate wasteful spending everywhere else first.
On a brighter note those farm subsidies might help keep food cheaper for us to afford and help shelter farms from the ravages of uncertain weather etc..

Where to begin Pruning??
How about the tobacco farmers?
After all, why should the Government continue to pay Farmers Millions of Dollars to grow a crop they are also spending Millions of Dollars on programs to get people to STOP using the exact same product??
And yes, I DO live in Kentucky, a HUGE tobacco growing state.
Some of the farmers could switch to hemp growing, for fiber for clothing, rope and thousands of other uses, if there was a little common sense in Congress!
Oh, wait…what was I thinking?
COMMON SENSE IN CONGRESS??
Sorry.

And leave the small organic farmers alone. Stop the raids.

The biggest part of ‘farm subsidies’ is food stamps. No liberal with a breath would demand anything be taken from that.

NO? So what, Buddhist?
Well Karma can be a Bi.ch don’cha know, What comes around goes around.
So food stamps, people need them. Do people lie cheat and steal? Yes. Doesn’t mean that there are many who would stave without help.
But stick to the subject. Congress needs to cut spending. ALL subsidies need to be carefully examined.

Reagan didn’t cut subsidies for food stamps

One thing to remember is that a lot of farmers took a huge hit from last year’s drought. How that will play into this, I honestly don’t know, but it’s something we should keep in mind
