The Tea Party representatives from farm states will elinimate all that wasteful spending on farm subsidies. Won’t they?

Dude, as a “christian nation” we are under divine obligation to help those that can not help themselves.

    Matt. 25 34-40

OH, not christian? Maybe Muslim? Then:

    NO? So what, Buddhist?

Well Karma can be a don’cha know, What comes around goes around.

So food stamps, people need them. Do people lie cheat and steal? Yes. Doesn’t mean that there are many who would stave without help.

But stick to the subject. Congress needs to cut spending. ALL subsidies need to be carefully examined.

One thing to remember is that a lot of farmers took a huge hit from last year’s drought. How that will play into this, I honestly don’t know, but it’s something we should keep in mind

Don’t you think it would have been better to look up the numbers that concern Mr. Ima’s comment and post them than to post your own comment with nothing but ridicule?

My Grandfather farmed and I grantee you he would not want to see farm subsidies go. That being said he knew they would not last forever. If still alive he would be amazed they were still around.

He had one thought of killing subsidies. Fade them out; this country has had only one major disruption of food in over 100 years the great depression. Before that you would have to go back to the depression of the 1880s. Yes there was one then to, what would people do if all of a sudden their bellies were empty. Yes get rid of them put fade them out.

Only a small portion of “farm subsidies” go to farmers, most go to planters (those corporate “factory farms” of at least a section of land under cultivation – in the old days, at least 20 slaves).

Locally we have a “greenbelt” subsidy. When someone buys a large vacant lot, they put a couple of cows on the land and claim a deduction on their property taxes.
