Unscrew it and move it…not sure what the point is.

It means people’s retirement plans have not grown as expected so they have to work longer.
Mostly thanks to the magic fairy dust derivatives that we are bailing out the bankers for.

Fortunately, I have no retirement plan.
See, I work as dishwasher. I live day by day. I can’t afford to look more than a year ahead. I can’t even afford to look a few months ahead. But at least I have a job, right? It may not involve any skills, it may not provide a path to better jobs, but at least I’m employed, right? I’m not living off an unemployment check, so I must be doing things correctly.
Right, guys?

A hammock requires two trees to hang it properly. I suppose he’ll have to plant a second tree and wait another 80 years. Typical gov’t planning and thinking.

Ah, the awful truth that a hook for a hammock does not move up the trunk of the tree as it grows. After that many years the tree has grown around the the hook and the hook is no longer visible. I guess I am lucky, I have an extra frame for my hammock.

I get it “human!” Your real name is Irony!!

Human, The “Great Communicator” made it possible for corporations to raid their employees retirement funds to pay big bonuses in the 1980s. The system has never recovered. As a corporation filed for reorganization under bankruptcy they were allowed to fire from the top of the seniority list to eliminate those higher paid employees and those about to retire. AAAHH! THE GOOD OLD DAYS!

The problem isn’t the hammock. The problem is expecting the government to take care of us in sickness and health. feed us and provide housing. Unemployment is “only” 10% because only the active job seeking person is counted. There was no unemployment insurance or welfare at the time of the Great Depression. There is a disincentive for self sufficiency.

@toasteroven - Go buy yourself some bootstraps and pull yourself up by them. Your lot in life is entirely your fault absolutely with no outside influences, the free market is always right, reduce regulation, lower taxes, and keep gays out of our military and our marriages. Oh, and get some morals.
Did I miss any?

Human: The rest of the quote reads: “Then they throw dirt in your face and the worms eat you.”

@DrCanuck - Which is odd considering how many multi-billion dollar churches there are — so willing to dump millions upon millions of dollars into anti-gay campaigns and threatening not to serve the public if gays get equal rights.

^Nobody wants to say it but CHURCHES ARE BUSINESSES TOO! And they’re an even greater scam because they are tax-exempt. And you know what the funny part is? They aren’t losing their tax exempt status since last I checked any church that engages in politics automatically loses their tax exempt status.
That hammock example reminds me of the man and the river. The man kept going to the river to get fresh water, fish, etc. Then one day the river wasn’t there anymore. WTF? Where did the water go? More than likely someone built a dam down the river and diverted the water someplace else.
Add this story to the IRA’s that went belly up when the stock market went down 2,000 points and you start wondering, “Where did that money go?” Don’t be surprised to hear that some banker is vacationing at Fiji Island on your retirements. Now these are the real ponzi schemes.

Tom, Flat tax would be better then what we have now. But the FAIR TAX is so much better. How about You keep what you make! Now that is a concept. That could help me have more money in my pocket to save for my retirement. Leave the government out of it and stand on your own two feet.
