C’mon, Obama…look at the concessions you’ve made to the Republicans:

You promised to do something about gays in the military. What have you done? Nothing.

And what has been the Republican response? Gratitude? Even bipartisanship? No. Nothing.

So learn from this one example. The Party Of No will not respond to anything you do in their behalf.

So do something on behalf of the American people instead.

Ignore Republicans while you can – they are a back-stabbing, lock-step bunch who serve their own interests (the rich and powerful) and despise pretty much everyone else. They will quite openly and gleefully flail you alive if you give them anything.

They already did it to Clinton - a shameful example of partisan politics and misuse of tax dollars.

I have to agree, I think that bipartisanship has been given a good shot and just isn’t going to fly. Time to ram some things down some peoples throats.

Forget the bipartisanship thing completely and work for a 55 majority vote for bills in the Senate. After Health Care passes start working on a progressive agenda. And Get Tough, you wimpy Democrats in Congress.

The republicans will never accept anything coming from Obama. we may not agree with them, but they are still american citizens and should that should matter. However, don’t rule like a republican, there is a reason the majority of electors voted them out.

Toon reminds me that Julius Caesar got more support from his “friends” in the Senate. (He’s lucky he didn’t have a “House” as well to deal with.)

Republicans spend all their time “campaigning” instead of working for the people. Democrats are still working too hard at the same, though some are making an effort for legislation. Voters should note who is “obstructionist” OR “wimp”- and get rid of them.

Obama is making that old mistake of asking them to think, do their jobs, and put the interests of the people ahead of their own petty arguments.

Yep, too bad we don’t still have Bush, we could invade Paraguay.

“What concessions has BO given the Republicans? ”

Economy - tax cuts (continued, for now, iirc even expanded), Healthcare bill - no public plan (and other titbits, both from conservative dems and Reps), Afghanistan - more troops… Even the stimulus bill got some Republican feedback, from those actually participated.

Also, consider it from the other side - how many of the measures he passes would actually please the hardcore liberals, the ones who actually busted their buttocks electing the guy? They won’t like the bailout, effectively pouring public money into private enterprises with little or nothing to get in return. The healthcare bill doesn’t do nearly enough to meet their wants. Afghanistan? Obama escalated it. Iraq? Full withdrawal, it ain’t. Gitmo? Still open. Don’t-ask-don’t-tell? Not repealed as far as I know. The more ambitious stuff like trying Cheney/Bush for war crimes doesn’t even deserve mention. One year into the Obama presidency, they have little to show for it. Church, some people here have been paiting obama as practically the next Marx, but his accomplishments for the hardcore left (with whom he’s been associated) have been slim to none. That is why I say the guy has been pursuing a mostly centrist policy.

On the other hand, I’m not sure how much he got in return. If 10 moderate republicans had offered to vote for the healthcare bill, in return to concessions similar to those given to right-wing democrats like Liebermann or Nelson, do you honestly think the administration would kick them out?

Bipartisanship means both parties make compromises, not just Obama.

Just replace most of the posts above with “It’s the Republican’s fault.” Yet they are out of power in the Senate, the House and do not have the Presidency. Aha-hahahahah!

Maybe the real reason you are all disappointed is because Obama lied to you, Obama and his buddy’s are no less condescending of YOUR opinions as he is of the average-Americans opinions, and you have nothing waiting in the wings to take his place when Libs are voted out en masse in the Fall…
