    As a bachelor, I always leave the seat up.
    When I sit I put the seat back up, where it belongs.

    We always just closed the lid. Seems like every house designer and builder has to put shelves or cabinets right above the toilet. It’s much easier to pick something that fell back up from the floor than to have to wash it.

    Lid gets closed to keep the dog out. That also has the added benefit of wife lifting the lid before sitting down. If the seat was left up for some reason, she’d find out the easy way.

    Women will never have equality until they start taking responsibility for the toilet seat themselves. I have spoken.

    All you lazy so and so’s might think about not just putting the seat down, but the lid too. Its been proven that the agitation of the flush makes a fine invisible mist of everything in the bowl that travels around the around the room and lands on your toothbrush.

    Same in my house but it’s to keep the cat from playing in the water (he thinks he’s a dog).

    We don’t want equality – we are already better. I have spoken.

    When my husband the truck driver is home, I tell him the toilet is haunted – the seat mysteriously keeps going up…!

    @finale: You presume too much.
    @Perkycat: I’ve thought that for years, but it doesn’t explain why we men are still in charge. (Love your avatar.)
