Really? I’ve l lived here for 30 years and never heard it. I think you’ve been “guided” (real Spanish term for people who believe the silly lies tour guides tell.)

A moustache can be used as either a cookie duster, or a soup strainer..

Click-to-enlarge image can be found at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.

A different coloration, click-to-humongous image (a few are without mustaches or moustaches; 6 have their right hands raised with index and middle fingers extended — 2 of those show the back of their hand to whoever they’re looking at — losing the index finger, I wonder if that’s an early form of a common highway greeting between motorists ) can be found here (which helped immensely in my search).

The Ratification of the Treaty of Münster, 15 May 1648 (link shows Wikipedia page, the link to the map is lost in the Google translation of the Dutch Wikipedia page) is shown here by its owner institution. It is one of the chapters in the Dutch History Timeline presented by its current-location.

Another different coloration image can be found here (along with a brief description). Another different coloration, click-to-enlarge image can be found here.

This (Google translated) has a brief description, along with 8 different coloration and detail images of this artist‘s painting; but many are available online. The artist’s Wikipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories at each level).

Third of the 11 works by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.

Had to correct something; so my comment now appears after your Munster reply to it, losing the reply indicator — gang signs, wish I had thought of that. ;)

Heh. If you go to the enlargeable image you can find at least three guys who are looking right at you. Kinda creepy, but funny, too.
