Many years ago he had another ice fishing themed strip. Lone fisherman, clearly freezing cold and miserable, huddled over a hole. There is a small spaceship hovering over his shoulder, 2 small aliens looking out at him. The caption was, “Well, that settles it. There’s no intelligent life here.”

Trying to locate an older Non Sequitur strip. One panel, guy ice fishing, small Martians hovering over his shoulder, “well,that confirms it, there’s no intelligent life here.”
