Those are not rocks in the cartoon, but another lumpy brown substance that can easily be stacked in piles.

Meanwhile in Fla. our republican governor and staff are struggling with a budget problem as well.

It seems they have to decide what to do with an estimated billion dollar surplus.

    True? who knows……

Just take from those who have and give to those who don’t. Pretty soon those who have no longer have anything to give.

This is a “great” idea! Several smaller piles of “rocks” are a lot easier to ignore than one big one.

The “breakaway” folks aren’t piling rocks, just the usual nitrogen rich fertilizer.

That would give California 12 senators instead of 2.

“the people in the cities who subsidize the rural folk.” How? All the votes are in the population centers. Go live in a rural community then re-think your thought.

If you look at the details of the plan, it has a lot going for it. Something has to be done since what CA is stuck with now is horribly corrupt politicians who bend over for horribly corrupt unions. Of course, when it comes down to it, the voters have to shoulder their share of the blame for sticking the corrupt fools, from Brown on down, in power.

Cities and rural areas need each other. Without cities, there is no civilization. Without farms, there is no food. We should rise above narrow interests and recognize how interconnected we are.

Many areas of California have degenerated into a steaming mound of liberalism.

Being from Illinois we suffer with the same problem. The provider class labors to produce enough wealth so that Chicago can take it from us to support those who just didn’t get a fair chance.

We, in downstate, would love to secede from the Chicago looters but have never figured out a way to do it.

The word “civilization” ultimately means “life in a city” (check out the Latin derivation). Life in a city has good aspects and bad, as does life in the country. But people who live in the country don’t develop civilization. And the word “politics” derives from the Greek “polis”, which means “city”. The ancient Greeks and Romans understood that there is something distinctive about life in the city.

Two things wrong with this strip.

!. The pile should be made out of road apples. (AKA as horse crap)

    2. There should be a mention of what effect ten new leftist senators would have on the balance of power in D. C.
