Being from Illinois we suffer with the same problem. The provider class labors to produce enough wealth so that Chicago can take it from us to support those who just didn’t get a fair chance.
We, in downstate, would love to secede from the Chicago looters but have never figured out a way to do it.
The word “civilization” ultimately means “life in a city” (check out the Latin derivation). Life in a city has good aspects and bad, as does life in the country. But people who live in the country don’t develop civilization. And the word “politics” derives from the Greek “polis”, which means “city”. The ancient Greeks and Romans understood that there is something distinctive about life in the city.

Resolved The good citizens of the central valley should undertake the following project as a mater of public safety.
1) barricade the area know as “the Grapevine”
2) Build a fortification around the area known as “The Bay area”
